3000m PB! : Back on Track

After my last (and first) 3000m a couple years ago I was back racing on the track, at Brighton Track Night, for probably my annual track race😆

Anyway I prefer the longer distance so with a PB from a while back of 9.25 I was looking to go much better this time round.

After warming up, drills and strides I lined up with the other guys of mixed ages from around u17 (my category) through to senior.

When the gun went I was running comfortably at the front for the first couple laps, feeling a lot stronger running at some decent speed than before. One of the quicker guys went off with the pacer running at 8.15 3k pace and I stayed towards the back of a group of about 8 guys strung out after.

Coming into the final lap I put in what I had left but my calves were pretty dead, with this being about my 5th time running on the track in spikes ever too, but I came in for a PB of 8:41.89, knocking off 45 seconds on my previous and putting myself currently 15th on this year’s British Rankings with just one track race this year.

I managed to negative split each km and ran an avg pace of 2’54″/km, so it was a pretty good run.

Please help support as this is an incredible opportunity being able to race at the World Championships and I don’t want to be halted by financial issues with going and equipment, accommodation and travel costs. I would be extremely grateful for any support – even £5 helps!

The costs are extremely high and if any brands would like to support me through the many costs racing and training brings I would be very grateful for any opportunities.
