After pretty much non-stop rain since the beginning of the month, I raced at round 2 of the Sussex cross country league at Ardingly.
With a new course, consisting of a 2km and 3km loop, making it hillier than last year’s race, it brought a change in the course which I liked, with some more hills than the previous and a short, steep bombhole descent and climb, each lap.
After just getting to the start a couple minutes before, I was at the front with some others and went with a group for the first 2km loop or so then started to force the pace a bit. After it strung out and became a two-man lead, I was in a good position but didn’t manage to get away. At the last few corners before the finish, I was just behind. It was a sprint finish to the end but against strong competition and a fast kick I came 2nd a metre or two back.
I’m happy with 2nd and there are some various xc’s dotted throughout this winter as well I’m looking forward to.
Recent Training
I don’t really talk about my training as much and more just how races have gone, but as the triathlon season has come to an end for me this year, my next main race will probably be the British Triathlon Super Series Performance Assessments in April, next year. A bit of time yet but some time still to improve on various things through the winter and early spring months, for next season. Since the weather been pretty awful, most of my last rides have been indoor but hopefully I can get out on the road some more and do a long ride this week and get out on the mountain bike too, as the weather gets a bit better.
Thanks for reading.
