My Triathlon Journey

The cyclocross season started for me, last Sunday at Pippingford and now I’m in the Under16 category after my last year in U14’s. I was gridded 3rd so had a good front row start. I got to the front at the start and stayed with 2nd for a few laps. I sat behind him but he slid out on a short gravel section so I got a gap of 10 seconds but it was closed quickly as I looked down and went straight into the course tape causing the gap to pretty much close. Again we stayed together and at the start of the last lap he had a small gap ahead but I noticed my front quick release was undone on the way up the switchback climb so the nearly closed gap was lost when I had to jump of at the top and do it back up. I managed to do it up quickly but the gap had grown. I chased back hard and shortened the gap but finished just 10 seconds behind, in 3rd. Despite, I’m still really happy with where I finished, as a bottom year and that I feel I’m riding a lot stronger and better technically, than last season.
