Saturday
The Saturday before last, was the final cross-country round of the Sussex League. It was at Bexhill, the same venue as the Sussex champs a few weeks ago. I was aiming to get a top 3 in the series overall, so needed a top 3 finish. It was fairly muddy but bad weather held off, so two laps and 4km of racing would determine podiums.

There was a big group of us running at 1km, then I broke into a two-man group for the remainder. I stayed at the front for majority of the race until about a third of the way into the second lap. I finished 2nd Under 15, 16 seconds behind the winner.
I also finished 3rd place in the series overall standing, 1st place team series overall.
Sunday

On Sunday I was doing a cyclocross team event at Ardingly. This didn’t count to the overall but instead was meant to be a fun team event. However I didn’t ride for a team, so I was in a composite (with other riders who also didn’t have a team).

The course was entirely flat and upon purely road and sand. The race started in waves (1,2,3,4), almost like a handicap race. I was in wave 3 so I started a minute and a half, behind wave 1. I managed to gain places through the next half hour and come in ninth.
The presentation for the cyclocross overall series was afterwards and I just missed out on 3rd coming 4th, in the Under 14’s, but I still managed to get a podium.
